With 35 years of leadership and business experience, Mike Joubert has built a career at the intersection of corporate strategy, entrepreneurship, and brand innovation.

 

His leadership journey began at the University of Pretoria, where he served as President of the Student Representative Council and Chairperson of the National RAG Organisation of South Africa, laying the foundation for his career in leadership and strategy.

 

Mike has held several high-profile executive roles, including CMO of Computicket, Strategic Marketing Director at Ogilvy, CMO of Diageo South Africa, and CEO of Levi Strauss & Co. South Africa. He later took on a global role as EVP of Marketing for Levi Strauss & Co. in Europe, Russia, and the Middle East.

 

In 2009, he transitioned into entrepreneurship, founding The BrandsRock Group, a leading brand solutions company that was later acquired by Publicis Groupe and integrated into Saatchi & Saatchi. Following this, he established The Billybo Group, a collective of business leaders focused on mentorship, investment readiness, and brand strategy.

 

Mike has served on numerous boards throughout his career, including the Levi Strauss Foundation (San Francisco), KWV, Quicket (acquired by Ticketmaster in 2024), PSI South Africa, and WWF South Africa. He is currently a Global Board Director of PSI and Health X, Executive Chairman of Shopstar, Board Director at Trevethan Distillery, Advisory Board Member at Ctrl Technologies, and an Executive Board Director at iXperience.

 

A passionate mentor and investor in the South African startup ecosystem, Mike actively supports SMEs and investors with leadership, strategy, and brand development. His contributions to the marketing industry were recognized in 2006 when he was named “South African Marketing Person of the Year” at the Sunday Times Markinor Marketing Excellence Awards.
